Sad Morning

I am sad to report that when I went to check on the tiny blue egg this morning, I found an empty nest. On the ground, with a large hole in the side, was the egg. I haven't seen the mama bird back today. Will she return to her nest or will she find a safer place to make her home? As a mama, my heart is heavy for the little bird that lost her baby. Jack summed it up perfectly..."This is a terrible thing."

Look what we found!

I noticed a couple weeks ago that some birds were building a nest in the shrubs in front of our house. I've been sneaking a peek every few days. Today I saw this....

Happy Kitty

You, too, can have a cat this happy.

All you have to do is apply these to their claws. We are just hanging out, waiting for the glue to dry.
We wouldn't have to do this at all if she wouldn't scratch the new furniture! Sheesh.

Nothing Sweeter

She melts my heart. She really does. Those big, brown eyes were tired, I could tell. Her tiny fists rubbing those eyes only confirmed my suspicions. I cradled that sweet little body and gently kissed her forehead. She snuggled in closer to me and I kissed her head again. Once, twice, three more kisses and she was happily asleep in her mother's arms. I could have laid her in the crib then, instead I savored the moment. Is there anything sweeter? I thought not.

Yarn Along

I am giddy with excitement to join Ginny this week. I made Therese's shrug way before Easter morning! I had images in my head of working late into the night on Easter vigil, frantically trying to finish. I bound off the needles last night. This morning, way too early if you ask me, Therese was up for the day. After feeding, changing, and playing with her, I sat beside her and wove the ends into the sweater. That all took place before 6 am. Too early, I tell you! Thank the Lord for coffee and a warm fire. I still have to sew on a button. I bought one this week and after looking at it next to my knitting, I decided it is not the button. To find just the right button to make the shrug complete is no easy task. There is much love knit into that little shrug, and it needs just the right finishing touch, so I will keep looking.
Our weekly haul from the library. We were one book over the limit. The librarian pointed out that fact, then hit the override key for us. We have the best library around, I am convinced!
The finishing process always makes me nervous. I mean, you have just put a lot of time and care into your knitting. What if you mess up now? Yikes. There is something so final when you snip that yarn.
Well? What do you think?

This and that

I believe that the best times are often the simplest.

The kids love to see how they are growing. So we are marking their growth on the doorframe of the attic door. In the past 9 months, Jack and Anna grew about 2 inches each.

It only takes a few moments, but it makes their day. Those smiles are priceless. Can anyone explain the thrill of a cardboard box to me? The chair we ordered arrived Friday and the legs were protected by this piece of cardboard. The 3 of them sat contendly make-believing for hours. No one told me that one of the boxes of Samoas was earmarked for my college kid. We ate them all. I found a recipe for a homemade version. I think they look beautiful. They think they taste good.
Him too, even though I really shouldn't let him.

Too much dairy.

In case you can't figure this out, it is a shepherd.I am proud of Jack, for he was looking at a picture and did this on his own.
In the 90 minutes I had all to myself thanks to Tony taking the kids on an errand with him, I made this:
It is a tag blanket. Therese loves the tags more than the toys.I'm glad I saw these on Etsy. It was a fun little project.
I purchased all the materials, including google eyes for a puppet in need of repair for less than $4.
I think she likes it!
I also was able to make 2 hooded towels to go with the knitted washcloths.

No big plans this weekend made for many sweet memories.

May your day be filled with simple, sweet moments!
